Panning for Gold

Description

I was watching Pocahontas yesterday (Columbus Day, what a coincidence lol) and decided to paint my nails. Used gold eyeshadow, possibly inspired by the British trying to find gold in the movie, I actually noticed that just now haha >_< It worked surprisingly well!

Sephora by OPI Base Coat
Thunderstorm by Icing (3 coats)
Golden Meringue by China Glaze
Gold eyeshadow by ELF
Out the Door Top Coat

I saw a similar technique on Pinterest, but instead of putting it on the cuticle and blowing the shadow onto the wet polish, I used a brush and tapped the shadow directly over the nails.

TIPS: I recommend not dabbing it straight on to the nails, 1. it may mess up your polish and 2. it covers the base color too much. Try to load up your brush (any brush) with shadow and tap little "chunks" of it over the nails. If there's too much, just turn your hand over and shake some of it off. Play around with it, some of my nails aren't perfect (especially on my non-dominant hand, not shown).

EDIT: Use LOOSE eyeshadow for the desired "chunks"!! IMO, it makes the design more random and interesting. If it was pressed shadows, the fine pigment would just be all over the nail and cover the base color just like any other "top glitter/sparkle coat" would. I wanted the gold VERY noticeable!
